Many new standards have been in replacement, especially in the field of technology. One such new standard of Wireless Charging by the NFC Forum is being implemented to the devices as announced. The update coming up will allow the short-range wireless technology while the future NFC (Near Field Communication) devices would be applicable under this new standard.

As compared to the Qi charging, the new NFC standard is far slower that delivers up to 1W speeds. Besides, the base Qi speeds are 5W while fast charging can reach speeds of 10W or more on standard hardware. Also, the new NFC standard requires new hardware and switching the current device to the new standard with a firmware update is not possible.

The difference looks huge when Qi seems a lot better compared to NFC standard, but there lies a major advantage. You need not carry an external charger or search for a port that fits for charging your device. Rather the new wireless charging specification (WLC) standard allows a single antenna to manage both communications and charging for a device.

All the devices such as smartphones, smartwatches, headphones, or fitness trackers that feature NFC antennas can run through the charging with new standard.
