Google is introducing a new “Purchases” tab in Gmail, giving users a streamlined way to view their upcoming package deliveries. Announced on Thursday, the new tab will collect all purchase-related emails in one place, including past orders and shipments, making it easier to keep track of shopping activity. While Gmail will continue to highlight packages scheduled to arrive within the next 24 hours at the top of the inbox, the new tab offers a dedicated hub where all purchase details can be accessed under one view.
This update builds on Gmail’s package-tracking feature launched in 2022, which allows users to monitor deliveries directly from their inbox without needing to visit carrier websites.
Google points out that the feature could be especially useful during the holiday season. According to PwC’s 2025 holiday outlook, nearly 39% of holiday gift spending is expected to occur in the five-day stretch between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. With the Purchases tab, Gmail aims to make it easier for users to track multiple shipments during this busy shopping period.
The feature is rolling out today across mobile and web for personal Google account users worldwide.
In addition, Google is enhancing the Promotions category in Gmail with a new sorting option that lets users organize emails by “most relevant.” This update is designed to help people quickly spot deal updates from their favorite brands. Gmail will also surface timely nudges about upcoming offers and discounts.
The Promotions update will begin rolling out in the coming weeks on mobile for users with personal Google accounts.
