Technology News UK reports that Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk lauded India’s potential after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stated that the Prime Minister encouraged him to make “significant investments” in the country. Musk said he intended to do so and was waiting for the right time. His comments followed a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a state visit to the US.
The Indian government said it had invited Musk to explore investment opportunities in electric mobility and the commercial space sector. Musk said he was “trying to figure out the right timing” to make that happen. Modi’s meeting with Musk, who also owns Twitter, came days after Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey accused India of threatening to shut down the platform for not complying with its orders to take down content from the website.“We do not want to jump the gun on an announcement, but I think it is quite likely that it will be a significant investment in our relationship with India,” he told reporters.
Modi arrived in New York on Tuesday for a three-day state visit, which is being seen has a turning point for bilateral relations between India and the US. He will be given a ceremonial welcome at the White House today before he holds direct talks with President Joe Biden.
