Meta announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its AI agent Muse to small businesses and adding new integrations with platforms including Shopify, Dropbox, Slack and other business tools. The technology company said the agent is designed to help business owners manage their operations and attract new customers.
By connecting Muse with software that small businesses already use for sales, operations and marketing, Meta is positioning the AI agent as a tool that can understand a company’s wider operations. The approach is intended to make Muse more useful than a standalone chatbot as Meta continues competing with AI rivals including OpenAI and Google.
“Small businesses have been growing on our apps for nearly two decades,” Meta wrote in its blog post. “They told us they’re short on hours, not ideas. So we built Muse for Small Business to help get work done with the tools they already use.”
Meta has been expanding its AI products beyond consumer applications and into the business and enterprise market. The launch of Muse for Small Business comes a day after Meta introduced “Meta Enterprise Platform”, a new initiative focused on expanding the company’s AI offerings for businesses and corporate customers. The move could also help Meta generate returns from its significant investment in AI.
The technology company has hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai, the chief executive of database software company MongoDB, to lead the new enterprise initiative.
Meta said it will focus on bringing its wider technology stack to businesses and developers, including Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code and other AI products.
The Meta Enterprise Platform rollout builds on the momentum of Muse, which launched earlier this month and topped the app charts in the US and Canada ahead of ChatGPT.
