As part of its ongoing battle with Instagram and TikTok, Snapchat has unveiled a series of new tools aimed at making content creation and sharing easier for its users. The updates, announced on Thursday, include a new Timeline Editor, improved video creation templates, auto-saving Stories, and enhanced performance insights for creators. Reports Technology News
The Timeline Editor offers creators a streamlined way to edit videos directly within Snapchat. It provides a chronological layout of video clips, allowing users to trim, move, or rearrange footage easily. Once the video sequence is finalized, creators can enhance their content with Lenses, music from the Sounds library, and other creative tools. This move could reduce reliance on third-party editing apps like CapCut.
Another new addition is the “Create a Video” template, which allows users to compile videos by selecting saved Memories, picking a soundtrack from the Sounds library, and choosing a preferred layout. This feature is now available globally on iOS.
Snapchat is also introducing the ability to auto-save public Stories to a creator’s profile. This update lets followers revisit content even after its usual 24-hour lifespan, enabling creators to curate a lasting portfolio of their best work—though it does challenge Snapchat’s traditional focus on ephemeral content.
On the analytics front, creators will now have access to deeper insights. They can track how many viewers returned to watch their public content for at least 12 days in the past month, see which Stories and Spotlight posts performed best over the last 28 days, and view total watch time across their content.
These new features reinforce Snapchat’s push to attract and support creators, offering them more tools to engage audiences and grow their presence on the platform.
