TikTok has rolled out a new version of its app, “TikTok Pro,” in Germany, Portugal, and Spain, with a focus on supporting charitable causes through a built-in initiative called the Sunshine Programme. Reports Technology News

The new app enables users to earn ‘virtual sunshine’ by inviting friends to join, engaging with charity-focused content—such as liking, sharing, or reposting videos—and by following charity accounts or searching for nonprofit topics. This virtual sunshine can then be allocated to a charity of choice, prompting TikTok to make a real-world donation on the user’s behalf.

While the content library mirrors that of the regular TikTok app, TikTok Pro strips out live streams, in-app shopping, and advertising, creating a cleaner, more focused experience centered on social good.

TikTok says the idea behind the new app is “to enable people in Europe to support charitable organizations while discovering engaging and entertaining TikTok content.”
