X is expanding its “save-it-for-later” functionality with the launch of a new History tab that brings together bookmarks, likes, videos and articles into a single personalised hub.
Initially rolling out on iOS, the feature is designed to make it easier for users to revisit content they want to finish reading or watching later.
According to Nikita Bier, the new History section offers a more streamlined way to track favourite content and return to previously viewed posts.
As part of the update, the Bookmarks option in the app’s side menu has been renamed History. Inside, saved content is organised into four sections — Bookmarks, Likes, Videos and Articles. While bookmarks and likes are manually saved by users, the videos and articles tabs are automatically populated based on viewing and reading activity on the platform.
X said the History section remains private and visible only to the user.
The feature pushes X closer to functioning like a personalised content browser or reading app, consolidating tools that were previously spread across different areas of the platform. It also supports the company’s growing focus on long-form content, encouraging users to return to articles and extended posts shared by creators and businesses.
By automatically surfacing viewed articles and videos, X is effectively building a personalised in-app news and media archive tailored to each user’s browsing habits.
