Microsoft has launched a new business unit called Microsoft Frontier Company, dedicated to helping enterprises successfully deploy artificial intelligence solutions using the company’s existing AI technologies and services.

The initiative will be backed by a $2.5bn investment and supported by a team of 6,000 industry specialists and engineering experts, highlighting Microsoft’s commitment to accelerating enterprise AI adoption at scale.

According to Microsoft, the new organisation will focus on delivering practical, outcome-driven AI implementations that help businesses integrate artificial intelligence into their operations more effectively.

In announcing the initiative, Microsoft Commercial Business CEO Judson Althoff said the new venture goes beyond the traditional Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) model commonly used across the AI industry.

Althoff described Microsoft Frontier Company as the largest and most capable outcome-focused engineering organisation in the sector, designed to help customers achieve measurable business value from AI deployments.
