Apple has announced the arrival of Visual Intelligence, its advanced AI-powered image analysis technology, to iPhone screens with the launch of iOS 26. Reports Technology News

According to Apple, Visual Intelligence is designed to work seamlessly across any app, helping users interact with on-screen content more efficiently and intuitively. It can be activated using the same button used for taking screenshots, providing contextual actions based on what’s displayed.

For instance, if you’re scrolling through a social media feed and spot a gray jacket, Visual Intelligence enables a quick image search through platforms like Google or other frequently used apps — all without needing to leave your current screen.

The feature goes beyond shopping and search. Visual Intelligence can recognize dates, times, and locations in on-screen content and offer shortcuts like creating calendar events with pre-filled information. Users can also upload screenshots directly to ChatGPT for deeper analysis and insights.

Apple’s Senior VP of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, highlighted new opportunities for developers during the WWDC 2025 keynote. “For developers, you can use app intents to integrate search capabilities from your apps into this experience,” he said. “We’re also making it possible for you to search visually across your most-used apps using Visual Intelligence with the iPhone camera.”

This marks a significant step in Apple’s broader Apple Intelligence initiative, blending AI and on-device functionality to enhance user experience while maintaining privacy.
