Uber Technologies has introduced a new in-app hotel booking feature through a partnership with Expedia Group, as it expands its push to become a one-stop platform for travel, transport and food services.
The feature, unveiled at Uber’s GO-GET event, allows U.S. users to browse and book from more than 700,000 hotels worldwide directly within the app, powered by Expedia’s inventory. Vacation rentals from Vrbo are expected to be added later this year.
The move is part of Uber’s broader strategy to increase user engagement and capture a larger share of consumers’ end-to-end spending across mobility and lifestyle services. The partnership also reflects leadership ties — Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi previously led Expedia before joining Uber in 2017.
Subscribers to Uber’s membership program will receive added benefits, including at least 20% discounts on selected hotels and 10% back in Uber Credits on bookings. Users can access the new “Hotels” tab, filter options by price and amenities, and complete reservations using their existing Uber wallet.
Beyond hotel bookings, Uber is expanding its travel-focused ecosystem. New features include a “travel mode” offering location-based ride guidance and recommendations, international expansion of membership perks, and services such as “eats for the way” and “shop for me.”
The company is also rolling out AI-powered voice booking and a unified search function across rides, food and retail — reinforcing its ambition to evolve into a “super app” that integrates multiple everyday services into a single platform.
Uber said its membership program has grown to 46 million users as of late 2025, highlighting strong momentum as it broadens its offering beyond ride-hailing.
