The White House slammed Elon Musk’s backing for a “hideous” antisemitic conspiracy theory on X on Friday. At the same time, prominent US corporations such as Walt Disney Co (DIS.N), Warner Bros Discovery (WBD.O), and NBCUniversal parent Comcast (CMCSA.O) suspended their advertising on his social media site.

Musk agreed with a post on X on Wednesday that erroneously claimed Jews were inciting hatred against white people, claiming the user who mentioned the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory was stating “the actual truth.” According to this conspiracy theory, Jews and leftists are planning the ethnic and cultural replacement of white populations with non-white immigration, which will result in “white genocide.”

Musk was accused by the White House of “abhorrent promotion of antisemitic and racist hatred” that “runs counter to our core values as Americans.”

“It is intolerable to repeat the hideous lie… one month after the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” said White House spokesman Andrew Bates, referring to the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, reports Technology News UK.

In addition to Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, and Comcast, Lions Gate Entertainment (LGFa.N) and Paramount Global (PARA.O) said on Friday that their commercials on X, formerly Twitter, will be paused. According to Axios, Apple (AAPL.O), the world’s most valuable firm, has also paused its advertising.
