Meta has unveiled a new range of smart glasses called Meta Glasses, with prices starting from $299. Developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the new wearable devices differ from the company’s existing products by launching without Ray-Ban or Oakley branding.

The Meta Glasses are available from today in several countries and come in a variety of frame styles, colours and lens options as the company continues its expansion into the growing wearable technology market.

Meta’s latest launch reinforces its ambitions in smart eyewear, a sector where it and EssilorLuxottica currently hold more than 80% of the global market, according to industry research from Counterpoint.

The new glasses do not feature an integrated display but include a built-in camera and personal speakers, allowing users to capture content, listen to audio and interact with Meta’s AI-powered features.

A dedicated button on the glasses activates the Meta AI assistant by default, although users can customise the control to launch other features based on their preferences.

Meta says the glasses offer more than eight hours of battery life on a single charge, while the accompanying charging case provides up to 40 additional hours of usage.

The first model, known as the Meta Adventurer, features a rectangular frame design and is available in both standard and large sizes.

Another option, the Meta Fury, offers a more angular and boxy design inspired by popular men’s eyewear styles.

Meta also introduced the Meta Glasses by Kylie, developed in collaboration with American model Kylie Jenner. This version features a slim oval frame and represents the most fashion-focused design within the new collection.

The built-in Meta AI assistant can answer questions, provide sports scores, recommend local restaurants, understand visual surroundings through the camera and assist with a range of everyday tasks.

The company also confirmed that the glasses will soon support a pedestrian navigation feature, offering turn-by-turn walking directions directly through the wearable device.

In addition, Meta is expanding its live translation capabilities with support for 14 new languages, including Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi and Korean, further enhancing the glasses’ real-time communication features.
