Marks & Spencer has reinstated its click-and-collect service, 15 weeks after suspending it in the wake of a major cyber attack. Reports Technology News
The retailer halted online orders for clothing and home products, along with its in-store collection service, on 25 April following the incident. While online sales resumed on 10 June, M&S has now confirmed via its website that click and collect is once again available. Customers can also return online purchases at any M&S store.
The attack, which saw some customer data compromised, prompted warnings for shoppers to remain vigilant against suspicious emails, calls, or texts claiming to be from M&S.
Beyond disrupting its online operations, the cyber incident also caused issues in-store, with some shelves left empty in the immediate aftermath. The retailer expects the attack to hit this year’s profits by around £300m, though it anticipates partial recovery through insurance claims.
In July, chief executive Stuart Machin told investors that the company would be past the worst of the fallout by August. While M&S has not disclosed the source of the breach, it has previously confirmed it was the result of a ransomware attack.
