Social media platform Snapchat has announced the launch of its new creator subscription feature in alpha, rolling out to select users in the United States from February 23. The move introduces a fresh monetisation pathway, allowing fans to subscribe directly to their favourite creators.
At launch, subscriptions will be available for selected personalities including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson. Users who subscribe will gain access to exclusive content, priority replies to public Stories, and ad-free viewing of that creator’s Stories.
Creators will have the flexibility to set their own monthly subscription prices within the app, with Snap recommending tiered pricing options. The feature is designed to deepen engagement between creators and their audiences while offering an additional revenue stream beyond existing initiatives.
In a blog post, Snap said: “Expanding on existing monetisation offerings like the Unified Monetisation Program and the Snap Star Collab Studio, Creator Subscriptions introduce a premium layer of connection directly into how Snapchatters already engage with creators across Stories, Chat, and replies.”
The announcement comes as Snapchat continues to report strong user growth. The platform reached 946 million daily active users in its Q4 2025 results and revealed that the number of U.S.-based users posting to Spotlight increased more than 47% year-on-year. The company also recently spun out its hardware division into a new standalone entity, Specs.
Snap added that it plans to extend the Creator Subscriptions programme to Snap Stars in Canada, the UK and France in the coming weeks.
Rival Meta already offers similar subscription tools across platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, enabling creators to provide exclusive content and subscriber badges to paying fans.
