Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist — the beloved Monday tradition that serves up fresh music recommendations — is getting a major refresh. Reports Technology News
A full decade after its launch (yes, it’s really been that long), Spotify is giving Premium users a new level of control over their weekly music picks. At the top of the playlist, users will now find customizable genre filters. So, whether you’re loyal to 80s rock or just starting to explore the world of K-pop, you can guide the algorithm in the direction of your evolving taste.
The goal? To give listeners more say in the type of music they’re introduced to, making Discover Weekly feel even more personal.
Spotify says over 100 billion tracks have been streamed through Discover Weekly since it launched, with a whopping 77% of those streams coming from emerging artists — highlighting its role in music discovery.
To try out the upgraded experience, Premium users can head to the “Made for You” hub and open their Discover Weekly playlist. As long as you’re using the latest version of the app, you’ll spot the new genre controls waiting for you.
