TikTok announced on Wednesday a range of new features aimed at improving safety, enhancing creator tools, and supporting user well-being. Among the updates are expanded parental controls, a new “Creator Care Mode,” and the official launch of its fact-checking tool, Footnotes. Reports Technology News

As part of the updates to Family Pairing — TikTok’s feature that lets parents connect their account to their teen’s — new controls will allow parents to block specific accounts from interacting with their teen. Blocked users won’t be able to engage with the teen or appear in their feed.

In a move to keep parents better informed, TikTok will now notify them when their teen shares public videos, stories, or photos. The platform says this is designed to give parents visibility into their teen’s activity without interfering with their creative freedom.

Parents will also gain more insight into the privacy settings their teens choose. For instance, they can view whether their teen (aged 16–17) has enabled content downloads or whether their following list is visible to others.

For creators, TikTok is rolling out “Creator Care Mode,” which automatically filters out comments flagged as offensive, inappropriate, or profane. The system also targets comments from users who have a history of being reported, disliked, or having their comments deleted.

According to TikTok, the feature is powered by AI that adapts based on the creator’s moderation behavior. If a creator frequently deletes or reports certain types of comments, the system learns to filter similar content more effectively in the future.
