TikTok is introducing new features aimed at helping songwriters showcase their work on the platform. Currently rolling out in beta, these tools include a “Songwriter” label and a dedicated tab on profiles where users can highlight their music. Reports Technology News

According to TikTok, a select group of publishing partners and songwriters have early access to the new features. Those interested in joining the program will need to sign up for a waitlist.

To shape the new offerings, TikTok surveyed more than 870 songwriters and conducted interviews to better understand their needs around profile building and monetization. The company also referenced an independent survey that found over half of songwriters promoting themselves on social media use TikTok to do so. These findings were central to the development of the new tools.

“TikTok is uniquely positioned to give songwriters the ability to spotlight their musical works alongside their own content,” said the platform’s Global Head of Music Publishing Licensing and Partnership. “This enables them to tell the story of their music, their craft, and their personal journey, helping them grow their audience—just as hundreds of thousands of artist creators already do.”

With this move, TikTok aligns itself with streaming platforms like Spotify, which has long allowed songwriters to feature their credits. In 2023, Tidal also introduced a tool for musicians to monitor royalties and manage songwriting credits.
