Meta says it is working to resolve an issue that caused some Facebook Groups to be mistakenly suspended — but insists there is no broader problem across its platforms. Reports Technology News
Group administrators have taken to online forums to report receiving automated messages wrongly claiming their Groups had breached Meta’s policies, leading to their deletion.
Some Instagram users have also reported similar issues affecting their accounts, with many pointing the finger at Meta’s artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
Meta has acknowledged a “technical error” affecting Facebook Groups, but says it has found no evidence of a wider spike in incorrect enforcement across its platforms.
One Facebook group, which shares memes about bugs and has more than 680,000 members, was told it had violated policies on “dangerous organizations or individuals,” according to a post by its founder. The group was removed but has since been reinstated.
Elsewhere, an administrator of a large AI-focused group with 3.5 million members said on Reddit that both his group and personal account were briefly suspended. Meta later told him: “Our technology made a mistake suspending your group.”
