OpenAI has introduced a new, lower-cost ChatGPT subscription plan in India called ChatGPT Go, priced at ₹399 per month ($4.60) — a more affordable option compared to the ₹1,999 (around $23) per month Plus plan. Reports Technology News
Just a few days ago, the company rolled out local currency pricing for all its plans, and with this launch, it is also enabling payments via UPI (Unified Payments Interface), India’s widely used digital payment system.
According to Nick Turley, VP at OpenAI and head of ChatGPT, the Go plan will boost message limits, image generation, and file uploads by 10x compared to the free tier, while also offering improved memory for more personalized responses.
“Making ChatGPT more affordable has been a key ask from users! We’re rolling out Go in India first and will learn from feedback before expanding to other countries,” Turley said.
Previously, Indian users found the Plus plan costlier than the $20 global price once converted into local currency. With the launch of the Go plan, OpenAI is providing a more accessible option for users focused on chat, image creation, and file processing.
